2-on-2 basketball tournament

On Sunday, May 7, there will be a 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament (double elimination) in Nemzek Fieldhouse to support the local YWCA.

YWCA donation drive through Sept. 16

Women’s and Gender Studies is hosting a donation drive for the YWCA shelter for women and children. The Fargo YWCA sheltered over 1500 women and children from our community last year.  The emergency shelter is in need of the following items (for a complete list, visit our website):  diapers (size 4), twin sheet sets, toilet paper, toilet bowl cleaner, disinfecting wipes, sunscreen, body wash, Ibuprofen, baby wipes, baby lotion, pads, cotton balls, pre-natal vitamins and multivitamins. Please bring your donations to the Women’s and Gender Studies Office, MacLean 175, through Sept. 16.

Campus invited to Scorch’s birthday party

The MSUM Athletic Department will host Scorch’s birthday party Friday, March 4 from 7-9 p.m. at Alex Nemzek Hall. The event will benefit the YWCA of Cass and Clay Counties.

Scorch invites all local youth and community members to attend the birthday party and bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the YWCA. Any non-perishable item donated in the month of March to the Minnesota Food Share will be matched by the State of Minnesota. Read the rest of this entry →

Happy Birthday Scorch!!! Party: March 6, 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Nemzek Hall

MSUM invites everyone to Scorch’s Birthday Party on Saturday, March 6. The party will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Alex Nemzek Hall. All donations will benefit the YWCA Cass Clay and the Dorothy Day House. We ask that children be accompanied by a parent or guardian at this event.

This is the first annual celebration for Scorch’s birthday and it is put on for the youth in the community. Scorch’s friends, other area mascots will be in attendance. There will be inflatable games, face painting and other entertainment. Cake and refreshments will be served.

MSUM holds Scorch party for charity

MSU Moorhead is hosting a birthday party for Dragon mascot Scorch that is a fundraiser for the YWCA of Cass Clay and the Dorothy Day House. The event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6 in Nemzek Hall. It features inflatable games, face painting and other entertainment. Donations of food, toiletries, clothing and household items are being accepted.

The YWCA Cass Clay presents “It’s Time to Talk: Forums on Race” fourth annual luncheon featuring renowned anti-racism speaker Tim Wise on Tuesday, June 9 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead. Tickets are $35/each (student tickets/$25). The luncheon will feature a keynote address on “White Privilege” by Wise, followed by a panel discussion with community leaders and a general Q & A.
