Moss conducts inaugural Georgia Orchestra

Kirk Moss, associate professor of music and director of orchestral activities and string education, guest conducted the inaugural Georgia All-College Orchestra on Friday, January 29. Held in Savannah in conjunction with the Georgia Music Educators Association Annual In-Service Conference, the event attracted students from ten different colleges and universities. While there, Moss also presented a showcase conference session for his publisher, Alfred Music. Entitled, “The Perfect Method Book: Fact or Fiction,” the session described Alfred’s newest method book series for school bands and orchestras. Moss is a member of the author team for the series.

Kenyon Williams to perform with Moorhead High School Orchestra

Dr. Kenyon Williams, Associate Professor of Percussion, will perform the regional premiere of Emmanuel Sejourne’s “Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra” Monday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at Moorhead High School with the school’s Orchestra. Directed by MSUM Adjunct Professor of Violin Jon Larson, the MHS Orchestra is recognized as one of the largest and most accomplished ensembles in the Upper Midwest. Admission is free.

MSUM concert features Arsenal Trio

The annual Orchestra and Choir Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5 at First Presbyterian Church, 650 2nd Ave. N.,
Fargo. The concert features The Arsenal Trio, comprised of Ben Sung, concertmaster of the FM Symphony and violin professor at MSUM and NDSU; Sung’s wife, pianist Jihye Chang, who teaches piano at Concordia College; and colleague, cellist Hrant Parsamian of New York. The University Symphony Orchestra, led by MSUM’s Kirk Moss, will accompany the trio. Click the headline to read more.
