Mary Thrond, Languages and Culture, was named president-elect of the Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures at the annual conference in October in Minneapolis. The organization represents more than 3,000 language educators in Minnesota.
The Upsilon Sigma chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society at MSUM, awarded Professor Mary Thrond an Honorary Membership in a ceremony on November 12, 2009. Professor Thrond has worked as an adjunct and fixed term professor in the department of Languages and Cultures for over 5 years.
