Faculty members of the School of Performing Arts are presenting a Faculty Recital Thursday, September 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Glasrud Auditorium in Weld Hall.

Performers are Terrie Manno, Kevin Priebe, Erynn Millard, David Ferreira, Tiana Grise, Earnest Lamb, Elise Nelson, Jenny Dufault, Stephen Sulich (Concordia College faculty member performing as a guest), Kevin Zepper (MSUM English faculty member performing as a guest), Tom Strait, Michael Krajewski and Allen Carter. Professor Emeritus Ferreira to conduct Vivaldi: Gloria at Carnegie Hall

MSUM Professor Emeritus David Ferreira will be conducting Vivaldi: Gloria at Carnegie Hall on Monday, April 23, 2018.

Ferreira is also the director of the Cathedral Choir at First Lutheran Church of Fargo.

An Evening of Poetry and Jazz Oct. 27 at MSUM

Just Friends: An Evening of Poetry and Jazz featuring David Ferreira, Mark Vinz, and Bill Law will be presented Tuesday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Weld Hall Glasrud Auditorium. The event is part of the McGrath Visiting Writers Series and is free and open to the public.

David Ferreira guest artist at Cascais Jazz Club in Portugal

This past August, Dr. David Ferreira, Music, appeared as guest artist at the Cascais Jazz Club, in Lisbon, Portugal. After a brief rehearsal with a Portuguese drummer and bassist, the first evening featured jazz standards in a piano-trio format. The second evening, Ferreira sang and played piano with a bassist, showcasing vocals made famous by such artists as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.  Read the rest of this entry →

Carter, Ferreira and Strait present “Miles Davis – Kind of Blue”

MSUM music faculty, Allen Carter, David Ferreira and Tom Strait, will present “Miles Davis – Kind of Blue,” an evening of music, discourse and dining on Tuesday, March 26, 6:30-9 p.m. at the Speak Easy Restaurant.

The epic 1959 Miles Davis recording sold more than 5 million copies. The performance of the entire record will be interwoven with interesting stories about the making of “Kind of Blue” and the musicians who created it. Read the rest of this entry →

Communiversity brochures available in Library

F/M Communiversity winter/spring 2012 course brochures are available at Livingston Lord Library. Communiversity is a “university for the community” of lifelong learners, offering a variety of interesting, engaging courses for people of all ages and educational backgrounds. There are no tests, grades or papers – just the pleasure of learning. MSUM faculty teaching courses this semester include Steve Bolduc, Ellen Brisch, Allen Carter, Jim Danielson, David Ferreira and Phil Mouch. Dr. Sue Humphers-Ginther, Sociology, serves as MSUM’s representative to Communiversity’s planning committee.

Musical May Basket May 1 at Fargo Theatre
