Sue Humphers-Ginther, students attend Minnesota gerontological meeting

Sue Humphers-Ginther, Sociology and Criminal Justice, and four senior gerontology students (Marissa Maiers, Alison Nash-Gerlach, Jennifer Pippin-Anderson, and Muna Shrestha) attended the annual meeting of the Minnesota Gerontological Society in Brooklyn Center April 30. This year’s conference theme was “Be the Change: Innovative Models for an Aging Population”. Keynote Speaker, Dr. Rick Moody, Director of Academic Affairs for AARP, spoke on “Reminiscences of the 21st Century”, which offered pessimistic as well as optimistic scenarios for America as an aging society. In several breakout sessions, students learned about current research and how it translates into practice in our rapidly changing world of aging services.

BFA exhibit on display through May 13

An MSUM student art exhibit will be on display April 29-May 13 in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts gallery. The exhibit is in partial fulfillment of students’ bachelor of fine arts degrees. Counseling Center is open this summer

Did you know that the Counseling Center will be open during summer sessions? Lora Bertelsen, Ph.D., licensed psychologist and Sarah Szerlong, UND doctoral level intern, will be available during all summer sessions. We will offer individual and group counseling opportunities for students who are enrolled for summer classes and students enrolled for both Spring and Fall 2010.
