Dr. Deborah White, Sociology and Criminal Justice, has been elected to serve as president of the Midwest Sociological Society. The Midwest Sociological Society is a professional organization of academic and applied sociologists, as well as students of the discipline. The MSS is among the largest regional sociology organization in the United States, with approximately 1,200 members.
Dr. Deborah White, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, was featured in an article in the October 2013 publication of The Midwest Sociologist. The article by Michael Haedicke entitled “Integrating Research, Teaching, Activism” highlights ways in which White and fellow sociologist Stephanie Farmer (Roosevelt University) promote civic engagement and advance social justice in their communities, through their professional lives.
