Two graduate students from Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences department presented research at a regional conference

Two graduate students from Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences department presented research at a regional conference of the MN State Speech-Language Pathology Association in Rochester, MN in April. Nicole Hallin (Richard Adler, research advisor) presented on teachers’ perception and importance of vocal health. Aubrey Vesledahl (Richard Adler, research advisor) presented on teachers’ ability to recognize fluency disorders among students.

National Stuttering Association meets third Thursday of the month

The Fargo/Moorhead chapter of the National Stuttering Association (a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of people who stutter) holds monthly meetings on the third Thursday of the month (March 20, April 17, and May 15) at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 210 of Murray Hall at MSUM. Adler receives award for research and therapy work

Richard K. Adler, professor of SLHS, recently presented three papers on Voice Therapy and Standards of Care at the World Professional Association for Transgender Health Symposium held in Bangkok, Thailand. At the symposium, Dr. Adler received a commendation award from the association for his research and therapy work dealing with transgender clients’ health.

Sidney Adler, father of SLHS professor Richard Adler, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014. SLHS Department awarded grant for development of Sensory Integration Resource Center

Mari Beth Plankers, M.S., CCC-SLP and Rachel Stotts, M.S., CCC-SLP submitted a grant application to the “Dille Fund for Excellence” to develop a Sensory Integration (SI) Resource Center in the SLHS Clinic.
