Clint Bueling has been named the Assistant Director of the Academic Support Center. Along with his current duties, Clint will be taking on more of a role with Mapworks and staff supervision.
Chris Chastain, Biosciences, was awarded a 2-year $148,600 research grant from the USDA-National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The grant, entitled “Role of pyruvate phosphate dikinase regulatory protein isoform-2 in Zea mays C4 photosynthesis”, will fund Dr. Chastain’s ongoing research into C4 photosynthesis. Brian Smith (School of Teaching) and Learning, Richard Lahti (Chemistry) and Steve Lindaas (Physics and Astronomy) attended the 2015 Midwest Regional Robert Noyce Connections conference October 29-30 and presented the poster “Development of Learning Assistant Program at MSUM”. Tim Harms, Professor of Mathematics Education, presented at the US Math Recovery Council National Conference Oct. 28th in Raleigh, NC. Harms’ session was titled “Embarking on the Power of Structuring Number.”
Anna Sigrídur Arnar, School of Visual Arts, was invited by the Caxton Club to deliver a lecture for the Club’s meeting at the Union League in Chicago on October 21st.
