Dragons Football Staff to Host ‘Meet and Greet’ Tuesday

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons football staff will host a ‘Meet and Greet’ on Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 4-6:30, at the Comstock Memorial Union, room 200C, on the campus of MSUM.

The ‘Meet and Greet’ is open to all MSUM staff and faculty, alumni, friends and supporters of Dragons athletics. This will be an opportunity for all fans to meet the new football staff, where they can express their comments and questions for the upcoming season.

Most other members of the Dragons coaching staffs will also be in attendance. Cake and beverages will be complimentary.

Nico, the iguana, dies

Nico, the Biosciences Department iguana, has passed away. Some facts about Nico: He was acquired in the spring of 2001 at the age of about 5 years. He was donated to the university by a member of the community who could no longer care for a quickly growing lizard. He suffered from a mild case of metabolic bone disease when first acquired, but he was nursed back to health by some very caring student workers. He was the latest in a line of resident iguanas that goes back about 30 years. The Biosciences iguana has always been a favorite stop for campus tour groups, preschool groups, and members of the community. He was about 14 years old when he passed, which is quite old for an iguana. He suffered from no obvious health issues, and died peacefully in his sleep. Click headline for a picture.

Affinity Plus Haiti relief effort

Affinity Plus is accepting donations to help with the relief of the Haiti earthquake disaster. The funds will go to the Red Cross, who will then send the funds to Haiti. You can donate dollars, or members of Affinity Plus can donate their member participation points, which will be then matched by Affinity Plus and converted into dollars. Stop by the Moorhead Campus branch located in the union, or the branch located at 403 8th Street South. Click headline for more information.

Campus WW meeting Jan. 19

An Open House Meeting for the Weight Watchers At Work program will be held on Tuesday, January 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the Hendrix Health Center. Staff, students and faculty are welcome.
