The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved a recommendation from Chancellor James H. McCormick that the board request $630 million annually from the state in 2012 and 2013. Mary Thrond, Languages and Culture, was named president-elect of the Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures at the annual conference in October in Minneapolis. The organization represents more than 3,000 language educators in Minnesota.
Zhimin Guan, Art and Design, presents a solo exhibition at the Rourke Art Museum Nov. 19 to Jan. 9. The exhibition, titled “Bridge: American Scene/China Scene,” features 40 of Guan’s most recent paintings. Kate Shorma, 2010, received the 2010 Outstanding Student Teacher award from the Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures (MCTLC) at an annual conference in October in Minneapolis.
