On April 8, 2016 students from the College of Education and Human Services participated in a global human rights day trip to Winnipeg, Canada. The centerpiece of the tour was a visit to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, a world-class structure dedicated to the understanding of human rights and the promotion of respect for others.
Registration for the summer and fall 2016 semester is scheduled to begin March 29th, 2016. Fall registration proceeds according to the number of semester hours individual students have completed with grades. Students with more earned semester hours are allowed to register earlier than students with less semester hours.
Sue Severson and Ximena Suarez-Sousa, School of Teaching and Learning attended the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) 68th Annual Meeting in Las Vegas and received a pre-conference training session on validity and reliability of assessment rubrics to evaluate teacher education candidates’ performance. Dr. Bruce Roberts (Anthropology/Earth Science) and Dr. John Benson (School of Teaching and Learning) will be leading a four week study tour to Tanzania in May and June. Participants can sign up for the Education course, Anthropology course, or sign up for both. ANTH 390 (3 credits) /STL 390 (3 credits).
Dr. Sheila Marquardt, School of Teaching and Learning, co-facilitated a workshop at the Comparative and International Education Society Conference. The session, “Internationalizing teacher education: Creating curriculum spaces for global content” helped teacher educators consider ways to integrate competencies for global citizenship throughout their coursework, despite the pressure to cover US-centric materials.
