Dean of University College: Call for applications

The Dean of University College is a full-time, twelve-month position and will involve an initial appointment of two years, with a starting date of July 1, 2010. The Dean reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. As Dean of University College, this position plays a key role in leading the following: Corrick Center, Dragon Core and its assessment, Writing Intensive Program, First Year Seminar, Learning Communities, Honors, Academic Programs for Undecided Students, University Studies, Personal Development courses, and Service Learning. Alpha Lambda Delta inducts first-year students

Alpha Lambda Delta, the national honor society for first-year students, held its MSUM initiation Sunday, April 11 at 1 p.m. in the CMU. Twenty-nine new members were initiated. Freshmen initiates must have earned a 3.5 GPA fall semester and be in the top 20% of the freshman class. The initiation was hosted by last year’s ALD president and vice-president, Whitney Nelson and Nicole Kahler, and ALD Advisor Janet Haak. Teaching online? New media codes you need to know

Information for Department Chairs, Program Coordinators, and Faculty Teaching Online: New Media Codes–MnSCU has made several changes to the media codes that are of particular interest to those teaching online. You may want to begin using these media codes for Fall 2010 courses. They clarify some things for students as the register for classes. Instead of coding all online courses as media code 03, you may want to look at the new media codes 12 and 13. Click headline for more information.

Ceramics class added to summer schedule

The Art and Design Department is offering a rare summer session ceramics option: Contemporary Ceramics and Studio Practices. This course is open to all level of ceramics experience from beginning to advanced, with a majority of the focus on furthering ceramic skills and techniques. Studio assignments will be unique to each student, and will culminate in a developed body of work. See summer registration for schedule details.
