Moorhead Launches Student-Run Tech Agency
Inaugural initiative pairs local small businesses and nonprofits with supervised student teams for web, data, IT, and other projects.
Minnesota State Moorhead’s Computer Science and Information Systems Department is officially launching Dragon Ember Solutions, a new student-run technical agency that partners regional small businesses and nonprofit organizations with upcoming student teams.
As the program kicks off its inaugural term, Dragon Ember Solutions is now accepting its first cohort of client applications for the upcoming spring semester. The initiative will connect local organizations with supervised student talent to complete essential, entry-level technical projects, giving Moorhead students foundational, hands-on industry experience as they begin their academic and professional journeys.
Under this new experiential learning initiative, faculty will supervise all work on a best-effort basis, with specific services customized to match the evolving skills and availability of the inaugural student teams.
Initial service areas available for project matching may include web support, data migration and administration, and IT assessments.
“We are thrilled to launch Dragon Ember Solutions as a new avenue for community engagement and experiential learning. We look forward to seeing how our first wave of student teams can apply their skills to support local organizations,” said Dr. Juan Cabanela, Computer Science and Information Systems Professor and program coordinator for Dragon Ember Solutions.
Projects will run from mid-January through early May. Local small businesses and nonprofit organizations interested in becoming inaugural partners can learn more and submit an application for consideration by visiting the Dragon Ember Solutions webpage. As a pilot rollout, project slots for the inaugural spring term are limited.
