Welcome, Tricia Rohloff, director of Field Experiences

Tricia Rohloff joined the Dragon community in mid-August as the director of Field Experiences in the Nibbe School of Teaching and Learning. She oversees practicums and student teaching, partners with regional PK–12 school districts to place teacher candidates, and ensures all field experiences comply with Minnesota state licensing and national accreditation standards.

Q: Do you have any previous/other connection(s) to MSUM?
A: My higher education journey began right here at MSUM as an undergraduate student after high school. My niece and nephew are current students here as well.

Q: What makes this academic program relevant to the work that students will do after graduation?
A: The Nibbe School of Teaching and Learning prepares future teachers though both coursework and hands-on classroom experiences. Graduates will enter their first year of teaching being able to effectively lead a classroom and teach students.

Q: What do you want prospective students to know about your program?
A: MSUM’s teacher candidates are in field experiences early and often. They spend several hours in PK–12 classrooms working with different teachers, grade levels, and students, preparing them for their own future classrooms.

Q: What gives you energy in your work?
A: Supporting students during their field experiences is the most rewarding aspect of my work.

Q: What’s the best advice you were ever given?
A: One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is that starting each day with movement is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Q: What’s your favorite place to eat in Fargo-Moorhead?
A: I haven’t explored the local food scene much yet and would love to hear recommendations!

Welcome to the Dragon Community, Tricia!
