New sculpture, “After We Rose, We Soared,” being installed in Weld Hall early next week
On Aug. 3 and 4, artist April Wagner and her team will install a hand-blown glass sculpture titled “After We Rose, We Soared” above the south entrance stairwell in Weld Hall. The piece, made up of roughly 275 individually blown glass ribbons in blues, greens, pinks and purples, draws its colors from the building’s stained glass panels and its concept from Weld Hall’s history, including the fire that shaped the school’s motto and its dragon mascot.
The sculpture marks one of the final touches of the $23 million renovation of historic Weld Hall. You are invited to see the sculpture and reimagined Weld at the Grand Re-opening & Dedication on Friday, October 9.
