Success of regional partnership touted in Alexandria newspaper

The Regional Scholars Program partnership between Alexandria Area High School and Minnesota State Moorhead is already demonstrating a successful outcome in its goal to strengthen regional education and provide clear pathways for students.

Since the partnership began, student interest in the university has increased significantly. For the Class of 2026, 24 students plan to attend Minnesota State Moorhead this fall. This represents a substantial growth compared to the previous three years, where 11 students from the Class of 2023, 10 from the Class of 2024, and 12 from the Class of 2025 planned to attend.

This momentum is extending to next year’s seniors, with 12 Cardinals already submitting applications for fall 2027 during June alone.

The university currently has three Regional Scholars partnerships with specific high schools, all in Minnesota: Alexandria, Hawley, and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. Through these partnerships, top students can receive a $3,000 housing stipend and guaranteed seats in the Honors Scholarship Competition Day. They also benefit from an increased MSUM presence at school events and streamlined communication between the admissions team and their school counselor.

A news release about the Alexandria partnership was published in the Echo Press.
