School of Social Work faculty honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
Linda Jaeger, faculty in the School of Social Work at MSUM, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in March at the ND Family Based Conference. Linda was joined at the conference with a group of Child Welfare scholars. Linda is the Child Welfare Title IV-E scholarship program coordinator for the School of Social Work.
Here’s what was said about Linda before receiving the award:
This next individual embodies the very philosophy and mission of family-based services. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to strengthening families, empowering caregivers, and ensuring the well-being of children within their homes and communities. At the core of her work is a deep and abiding belief that families are the experts in their own lives—and she has dedicated herself to walking alongside them with respect, compassion, and purpose.
Her career reflects a lifetime of integrity, professionalism, and service. She brings not only knowledge and expertise, but also a collaborative spirit and a strong sense of responsibility to every role she has held. She is dependable, thoughtful, and always willing to step in to support both her colleagues and the families she served.
What truly sets her apart is her ability to connect with people. She listens deeply, without judgment, and ensures that every voice—especially those of children and youth—is heard and valued. In Child and Family Team Meetings, she created space for young people to share their perspectives, empowering them in moments when they needed it most.
She is also an exceptional mentor and leader. She has guided countless colleagues and students, generously sharing her knowledge and offering honest, thoughtful guidance. Those who have had the privilege to learn from her know that she not only teaches best practices—she models them. She challenges others to grow, supports them through difficult situations, and inspires confidence in those around her.
Her creativity and innovation have advanced the goals of family-based services in meaningful ways. She has consistently developed practical, family-centered approaches that strengthen engagement, improve outcomes, and build lasting stability. She is someone you want in your corner—an advocate, a problem-solver, and a steady, trusted presence.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, her legacy is defined by her compassion and her commitment to dignity, equity, and justice. She has touched countless lives, not only through her work, but through the way she shows up for others—with empathy, courage, and unwavering resolve.
This award is more than a recognition of years of service—it is a celebration of a life devoted to making a difference. Her impact will continue to be felt through the many professionals she has mentored, the families she has supported, and the community she has helped strengthen.
