Bachmeier Becomes Region’s Only ISA‑Trained Fine Art Appraiser

During his sabbatical year, Professor Brad Bachmeier has completed the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) Core Courses in Appraisal Studies and Fine Art, and the 2024–2025 USPAP certification, the national ethical and professional standard for appraisers. The ISA is the largest nonprofit professional personal property appraisal organization in the United States, known for its rigorous training, peer‑reviewed standards, and specialization in fine art, antiques, and cultural property (www.isa-appraisers.org).

With this credential, Bachmeier becomes the only ISA‑trained fine art appraiser in both North Dakota and South Dakota, and one of the very few professionally trained fine art appraisers in the region. His professional development appraisal training continues toward ISA’s Accredited Member (AM) designation. This work strengthens MSUM’s academic and community engagement efforts while helping fill a longstanding gap by expanding access to qualified, standards‑based fine art appraisal services for museums, collectors, estates, and cultural organizations across the region.
