Constitution Day Panel – Libraries, Intellectual Freedom, & the First Amendment

Join us for an important Constitution Day panel discussion on intellectual freedom and the First Amendment. Across the country, book challenges and bans are impacting what communities, especially young people, are allowed to read and learn.

This conversation will feature two regional leaders actively addressing this issue:

Andi Bodeau, past chair of the Minnesota Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee, will discuss Minnesota’s new law on library intellectual freedom and how communities can protect the right to read.

Randi Monley and Mariah Ralston, co-chairs of the Right to Read ND Steering Committee, will share how libraries and advocates in North Dakota are responding to a different political climate.

Together, they will explore how libraries, educators, and students can uphold intellectual freedom as a constitutional value and a community responsibility.

Date: Wednesday, September 17
Time: 2-3 PM
Location: Virtual, with in-person viewing at LI 124
