Reminder about university brand updates

The university began the transition to updated branding July 1, including a new university logo and mark. You may have noticed new banners hanging on light poles surrounding campus!

As the new academic year kicks off, the Marketing and Communications team wanted to share a few reminders about the brand update.

  • The university is now referring to itself as Minnesota State Moorhead, and as Moorhead for short.
    • This is not a name change. We are still legally and officially Minnesota State University Moorhead.
  • When an abbreviation is needed (for example, a social handle that limits the number of characters), MSUM may be used.
    • The university is not adopting “MSM” as an abbreviation.
  • The two-tone M logo has been retired. Single-color red, white, and black logos are available to download on the marketing website.
    • If you manage an affiliated social media account, please ensure that the profile image has been updated. To request a new image, email marketingteam@mnstate.edu.
  • All of campus is now utilizing the same shade of red as its primary brand color. The secondary color palette has been streamlined to white, gray, and black.
    • For print projects, the university’s red is Pantone 186. For digital uses, use hex code #c8102e.

Full brand standards can be found in the Visual Identity and Graphic Standards booklet. If you have any questions, please contact marketingteam@mnstate.edu.
