Physics students conduct research in California and Iowa

Let’s warm up with some stories about summer!

This past summer, physics students Taytum Nelson and Claire Nemmers were able to conduct research in their respective fields, gaining both new and practical experiences for their future careers.

Taytum spent the summer in Menlo Park, California at SRI. Her research experience was focused on mapping a region of the earth’s upper atmosphere, which is crucial for predicting space weather phenomena.

Claire was able to continue her research from previous semesters through the summer at Iowa State University. Claire and her professor are researching ways to scale green energy to the grid scale, by finding safe and efficient ways to store electrical charge.
