Join the Library’s Banned Books Reading Group for “Flamer”
In celebration of Pride Month, the library is hosting a Banned Books Reading Group event on Monday, June 17, from 12-1 PM in the Library Porch (LI 100). In a time of intense political polarization, library staff in every state are facing an unprecedented number of attempts to ban books. When we ban books, we’re closing off readers to people, places, and perspectives. But when we stand up for stories, we unleash the power that lies inside every book. We liberate the array of voices that need to be heard and the scenes that need to be seen.
We invite you to celebrate your freedom to read by joining our Banned Books Reading Group with fellow MSUM faculty, staff, and students. Bring your lunch and we’ll discuss Flamer by Mike Curato. For instructions on how to obtain a print or digital copy of the book, please see our DragonCentral event.
