Altrusa International hosts Prairie Bee Jan. 21

Altrusa International of Fargo and Prairie Public Broadcasting will be hosting the second annual Prairie Bee (Be a Word Nerd!) on Friday, January 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the historic Fargo Theatre. Proceeds from the spelling bee will benefit Prairie Public’s Ready to Learn program, which focuses on children from age two to eight in an effort to prepare them for school and to help them learn to read.

Altrusa International of Fargo is recruiting people who love to spell and have a good time by forming a team who will represent one of our sponsors. You compete as a team of three so you can collectively spell a word. (For more information on Scripps National Spelling Bee rules, go to www.spellingbee.com.) There will be good food and prizes (including bragging rights) at the event.

Please call Susan Council at 231.8807 if you have questions about the Prairie Bee or Altrusa International of Fargo. Thank you in advance for your support and assistance.

Altrusa International of Fargo exists to enrich the lives of women and children, promote literacy and encourage leadership through personal development and friendships. Previous fund-raising projects include the All-Women’s Golf Scramble, YWCA Baby Shower (with K-Mart Corp.), and the Trollwood Park concession stand. (Altrusa is credited with naming the park!) We have raised money for YWCA Emergency Shelter, Red River Children’s Advocacy Center, and Sister’s Path – to name a few organizations. Members include women for all sectors of the F-M community:  education, financial institutions, social service organizations, small businesses, and government agencies.
