Faculty and Professional Learning Update
I hope that your summer is going great. Here are a few updates and reminders from Faculty and Professional Learning.
Oct. 3 is Faculty and Professional Learning Day. Please see the linked form for a second call for early proposals for breakout sessions you or your team may have. This call will be open all summer and into early fall. The overall theme is “Where Are We Now? Where Do We Go from Here? Student Engagement in Higher Education’s Next Normal.”
Proposals from all across the university, all units and departments, are encouraged. Themes include Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Student Centered Practices; Retention; and Teaching and Learning.
Please submit your early proposals here:

Mentors to New Faculty Needed. Are you a current MSUM faculty member? Do you like to meet new colleagues? Do you have knowledge, experience and guidance to share with a new member of the MSUM faculty? The Faculty and Professional Learning Center is seeking faculty members to meet and greet new faculty early in the Fall semester (lunch on August 16) and to have lunch or coffee with them 3 times during Fall 22-23, paid for by the FPLC. You’ll also be invited to 6 brown bag lunches (in person and remote opportunities) with your mentee to provide support on topics such as PDP/PDR, The University and F-M-Red River Region, Advising, and more.
If you are interested, fill out this form with your name, department, and if you request a specific incoming faculty mentor to mentor; otherwise, you will be matched at random. If you have questions, email Brittney at brittney.goodman@mnstate.edu. Deadline to volunteer is July 29 and you will receive communication from the Faculty and Professional Learning Center about your match.
This Fall we will be celebrating the renaming and broadened focus of our center, moving from a Faculty Development Center to a Faculty and Professional Learning Center. Look for an announcement soon of a celebration and open house.
