John Benson, STL, presented a paper at the Annual Conference of the Association of American Geographers
John Benson, School of Teaching and Learning, presented a paper entitled, “The Mission Field: An Idealized Landscape and Its Impact on Two Generations of a Missionary Community” at the Annual Conference of the Association of American Geographers held in Chicago on April 21st. His paper is part of a large history of the missionary community he grew up within and that he has worked on for the past 15 years. His book, Missionary Families Find a Sense of Place and Identity: Two Generations on Two Continents will be published in June by Lexington Books. Finally, two chapters related to this work have been included in the five-volume series edited by Dr. Stan Brunn, The Changing World Religion Map: Sacred Places, Identities, Practices and Policies that was published in March by Springer.
