Peterson, Haugo named Alumni Foundation Board Directors Emeritus
Clair Peterson and John Haugo have been named Alumni Foundation Board Directors Emeritus for, “Outstanding and continuing service to the MSUM Alumni Foundation.” They were awarded on Thursday, Sept. 25 during a board member meeting.
Peterson served as President of the Alumni Association in 1971. Haugo served on the Alumni Foundation Board from 2006 to 2012.
John Haugo (MSUM ’57 – Mathematics) John holds M.A. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Minnesota. Early in his career, John was a math teacher and head football coach at Parkers Prairie and Park Rapids High Schools; he served as CEO of the Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation, a statewide educational computing services organization; and has most recently served as CEO of several Minneapolis-based healthcare software companies: Serving Software, Inc. and SearchAmerica Incorporated. John is the recipient of Distinguished Alumni Awards from MSUM, the University of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Athletic Administrators Association. He has also been named to the Dragon Athletic Hall of Fame at MSUM. John served on the MSUM Alumni Foundation Board of Directors from 2006 to 2012. He and his wife, Sharon, have four adult children and live in Hudson, Wis.
Clair Peterson (MSUM ’58 – Business Education and Social Studies) Originally from the Hawley and Hitterdal, Minn., area, the Petersons first came to Moorhead State Teachers College after Clair served four years in the U.S. Navy. They lived on campus in married student housing with their young children while Clair earned a degree in business education and history (1958). He also received a master’s degree in business law and economics (1967). After their children were all in school, Ardy went from full-time homemaker to non-traditional student, earning a degree in elementary education in 1965. Prior to retirement, Clair chaired Moorhead High School’s business education department, while also serving on educational organizations at local, regional, state and national levels. He was president of the MSU Alumni Association in 1971. Since their retirement in 1993, the Petersons have been active in developing real estate in Minnesota and Arizona. They spend summers in Moorhead and winters in Peoria, Ariz.
