City parking changes in effect Aug. 15
Parking changes from the City of Moorhead will limit how people park on streets surrounding MSUM. Starting Aug. 15, or as soon after as signs are posted, there will be a 3-hour daytime parking limit on some streets, and overnight restrictions for snow removal.
The changes come following a city parking study for the surrounding residential neighborhoods. The study sought:
- A balance between the parking needs of residents and the university.
- Reasonable availability of on-street parking for neighborhood residents (including students and employees who are residents).
- Sufficient travel lanes for general circulation, public safety access, municipal and institutional operations.
Curb painting is underway to improve awareness of no parking areas, such as crosswalks, near hydrants or driveway approaches. The change for areas with a three-hour limit will occur on August 15 or as soon as signs are posted.
Visit www.cityofmoorhead.com/parking for a map of the streets affected and more information. Once fully implemented, the changes will be in effect Aug. 15-May 15, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday- Friday.
