Faculty research advances AI and cybersecurity fields

Professor Andrew Chen, who is helping lead the development of Moorhead’s new Master of Science in artificial intelligence, recently published three research papers highlighting the growing intersections of AI, cybersecurity, and education.

The first project explores methods for improving software security. Co-authored with current MS in cybersecurity student Hashan Sharindu Kodippilige, the paper was accepted to the 2026 miniKanren Workshop at the International Conference on Function Programming (ICFP), “Lightweight Runtime Security Policy Verification Using an Embeddable C miniKanren.”

A second paper, “Relational Agenda Programming: A Uniform Execution Model for Embedded Reasoning Systems,” was accepted to the prestigious Onward! track at SPLASH 2026. The work examines new approaches to building intelligent systems capable of reasoning about information and decision-making.

The final publication, “Learning to Learn with AI: A Journey from Crisis to Community,” explores the role of AI in education and workforce development.

Together, these publications showcase research that spans artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and education, while connecting classroom learning with real-world scholarly and professional experiences.
