Education alumna wins Honored National Teaching Award

Education alumna Anna Tykwinski (’18) was recently recognized with the October 2026 Honored National Teaching Award! The recognition includes an interview on Honored’s Inspiring Teachers podcast, a photoshoot, and a $5,000 cash award.

“I want there to be a genuine connection between us, and I want them to want to come in,” Anna says in the podcast.

As a 3rd-grade teacher at Westside Elementary School in West Fargo, Anna has shown a dedication to creating strong, meaningful relationships with her students and families. A parent of one of her students nominated her for the award.

“She has truly taken the time to get to know him and who he is and what his needs are,” says Jamie, the parent who nominated Anna.
