Welcome, Katelin Madsen, assistant director of Alumni Relations

Katelin Madsen is joining the Dragon Community as assistant director of Alumni Relations in the MSUM Foundation. Her role focuses on creating opportunities for alumni to stay connected to MSUM through events, programming, and engagement initiatives. She also manages the Christianson Alumni Center, coordinating facility rentals and finding new ways to bring our Dragon community together.

Q: What unique experiences or skills do you bring to MSUM?

A: I have over 10 years of experience in events, marketing, and community engagement, and I love finding new and creative ways to connect with people. I’m a big-picture thinker who enjoys brainstorming new ideas and figuring out how to make them happen.

Q: What are you looking forward to in this role?

A: I don’t think there could have been a better week to start than Homecoming. I got to jump right in, meet so many amazing alumni, and experience firsthand the Dragon pride that makes MSUM so special. I’m excited to keep building those relationships, learn more about our alumni community, and bring some new ideas to life.

Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now? Why is it important? A: I’m helping plan Dragon Giving Day on Nov. 18. We’re working on making it a fun, engaging day filled with student performances, campus involvement, and lots of Dragon pride. It’s exciting because it’s not just about raising money; it’s about bringing our Dragon community together, celebrating everything that makes MSUM special, and showing how generosity can make a real difference for our students.

Q: What gives you energy in your work?

A: I get the most energy from working with people. I love brainstorming with a team, finding creative solutions, and seeing all the little pieces come together. I’m also someone who thrives on variety, so having the opportunity to work on different projects, meet new people, and constantly learn something new keeps me excited about what I do.

Q: What’s your favorite place to eat in Fargo-Moorhead?

A: Blackbird Woodfire Pizza. I’m a huge foodie and love trying new restaurants around town, but Blackbird is definitely one of my favorites.

Welcome to the Dragon Community, Katelin!
