Upcoming change to your login experience

Dear Dragon Community,

Technology changes are underway to make your sign-in experience more consistent and prepare for our Workday Student transition. My Oct. 13 email to campus outlined changes to StarID password requirements and multifactor authentication. These linked articles provide guidance on those changes.

Beginning Oct. 27, you will use one username for university and Minnesota State resources

Moorhead is an early adopter of Minnesota State’s Identity 3.0 sign-in system. This means you will use one username across the university and Minnesota State systems.

  • Employees will sign in with StarID@minnstate.edu.
  • Students will sign in with StarID@go.minnstate.edu.

If you are both an employee and a student, use the employee sign in for work tasks and the student sign in for classes and student activities.

Your StarID, password, and email address are not changing. Your current password will continue to work after the migration. You can continue to manage your password through the Minnesota State StarID Self-Service portal.

Be prepared for the change

  1. Make sure you know your StarID and password.
  2. Confirm whether you will use the student username, the employee username, or both.
  3. You can start using the employee username now. Beginning October 27, system updates will require you to use it.
  4. If an application asks you to sign in again, enter your full username: StarID@minnstate.edu.
  5. If an application or personal device has saved your old username, update it when prompted.
  6. Reconnect each phone, tablet, laptop, or other device to standard campus wireless, using your employee username:  StarID@minnstate.edu.

Use the new username format when signing in to these systems:

  • Campus and lab computers
  • Printers
  • Wireless
  • Microsoft 365
  • D2L Brightspace
  • Zoom and Kaltura
  • Workday
  • eServices
  • Other campus applications and Minnesota State services
