Entrepreneur Najam Usmani receives MSUM Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award and presents on campus April 17

Najam Usmani (finance ’93) is an MSUM Foundation 2026 Distinguished Alumni Awardee. He has built a global, cross-industry career while mentoring thousands.

Najam became one of the first 500 Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers, recognized by Bill Gates. He built nearly 400 retail locations, rose to the top ranks of tax preparation companies nationwide, and has hired, trained and influenced more than 2,700 employees over 25 years.

“College gives you a platform. It teaches you time management, communication, and networking,” he says.
