Minnesota State Moorhead collaboration with United Prairie Foundation brings new native pollinator garden to campus

Patrice Delaney, a former Minnesota State Moorhead Biosciences research student with Dr. Alison Wallace and currently a Senior Biologist with the United Prairie Foundation (UPF), brought a $2,000 grant from the Hector Foundation and her crew to campus to plant a highly diverse native pollinator garden. The location is a triangular are just south of Kise dining hall. Over 400 nearly dormant plugs, all grown from locally sourced seed collected by UPF, were planted by the MSUM biology students and the UPF crew on October 31st. These plants will provide habitat for pollinators, conserve water and soil health, and contribute to a campus beautiful aesthetic, especially for Kise diners and all passerbys on the main sidewalk through campus.
