Bradbury Gives Keynote Address at Aprendo in Santo Domingo

Dr. Boyd Bradbury, Chair of the Department of Leadership and Learning and the Nibbe School of Teaching and Learning, provided a keynote address on November 21, 2025, at Aprendo, the annual International Education Congress hosted by Acción Empresarial por la Educación (EDUCA) in the Dominican Republic. The event is a significant forum for dialogue and action on current educational challenges, bringing together teachers, experts, and stakeholders to discuss the future of education. The 2025 edition (the 29th) focused on the integration of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in education. Approximately 600 individuals, including Dominican Republic Education Minister Luis Miguel de Camps, attended the Congress, in addition to several thousand who participated online. Dr. Bradbury’s address was entitled,  Transformación Educativa en la República Dominicana: Innovaciones y Avances para Mejorar la Educación Nacional a través de la Interacción de la IA y los Docentes (Educational Transformation in the Dominican Republic: Innovations and Advances to Improve National Education through the Interaction of AI and Teachers).

In addition to the Congress participation, Dr. Bradbury and others met with the Vice Minister of Technical and Pedagogical Services, Dr. Ancell Scheker, to discuss the state of education in the Dominican Republic within the era of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. Also, Dr. Yamaya Sosa Machado, MSUM’s Director of Graduate Studies, and Dr. Bradbury met with the presidents and other administrators from two universities in Santo Domingo regarding the impact of AI in education and collaboration potential. Continued discussions with university officials and a representative from the US Embassy in Santo Domingo are planned to see whether there are viable collaboration opportunities between MSUM and Dominican Republic educational entities.
