School of Performing Arts to Host Percussion Day this Saturday
The School of Performing Arts will host their biennial Percussion Day this coming Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9:30am-9pm. The Day will begin in the CMU Ballroom with a morning mass drumline bringing together high school and university students from across the region to learn hands-on fundamentals of marching percussion under guest artist Lauren Teel, the percussion caption head of the famed Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. At 11:00am, the Dragon Drumline will present their final performance of the season for those in attendance. At 12pm, Lauren will present a marimba masterclass in Fox Recital Hall. At 3pm, Elon JD and Maison Guidry, the virtuoso electric bass and drumset duo from the famed Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, will present a clinic in the CMU ballroom, followed at 4:30pm by a performance of the Fourchestra with a mass steelband featuring bands from Duluth, Bismarck, Minneapolis, and MSUM’s own Fuego Tropical steel drum band. The Day will conclude with an unforgettable performance by the Fourchestra at 7:30pm in Hansen Theatre. Admission to all events is free for MSUM students, faculty, and staff.
