Graduate Students Attend the Virtual Learning Disabilities Strategy Summit

The Nibbe Family Foundation, recently established to provide opportunities for students to further their development in teaching and learning, provided funding for twelve graduate students in the Special Education master’s program to virtually attend the Learning Disabilities Strategy Summit, sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children. Students were able to watch the October 16th event live, as they were able, or watch recordings of the five sessions presented by renowned special education teachers and researchers.

The students, all enrolled in Dr. Marci Glessner’s SPED 575: Information Assessment/Teaching Strategies: Students with Learning Disabilities,  were able to self-select three of the sessions based on their particular interests/needs and student population. Later in the semester students will share with one another – specifically describing evidence-based strategies, teaching tips and anecdotes about how they utilized their learning in their teaching.
