MOORHEAD — Every summer, Minnesota State University Moorhead and Essentia Health team up to offer high school students a hands-on introduction to health care careers through Scrubs Camp.
The four-day camp is designed to give teens in-depth exposure to various areas of the medical field, including pediatrics, postpartum care and surgery.
“Give high school students the opportunity to have some hands-on experience through simulations, education kind of gives them the opportunity to ask questions and kind of feel just these various different areas of health care,” said Krista Lardy, pediatric nurse at Essentia Health.
Students often arrive with a specific medical interest, but the camp’s broad lessons expose them to potential paths they hadn’t considered.
