
MSUM Exercise Science Students and Faculty Engage in Regional Professional Development at NLACSM Conference
Six Exercise Science students—Clayton Hagenbeck, Ava Kerfeld, Justice Noel, Meghan Smith, Lexie Pixley, and Jonas Anez (not pictured)—along with faculty members Dr. Wendy Short and Dr. Sarah Milner, represented Minnesota State University Moorhead at the Northland Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (NLACSM) Conference, held April 3–5 in Mankato, MN.
The three-day event featured a variety of national, regional, and local speakers, offering a mix of evidence-based presentations and hands-on learning opportunities. Students had the opportunity to present research posters and test their knowledge by competing in the conference’s Quiz Bowl.
Highlighted presentations included:
- “Empowering Inclusion: Advancing Fitness for Every Body Everywhere” by David Geslak
- “The Key Ingredients to a Happy and Healthy Lumbar Spine: The Importance of Movement Across the Lifespan” by Tiegen Linder
- “Adaptation to High-Volume Endurance Exercise, from Olympian to Mere Mortal” by Daniel Craighead and Christopher Lundstrom
Dr. Sarah Milner also serves as a board member for NLACSM, further contributing to professional development and regional leadership within the field.
The Northland Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine is a dynamic community of students and professionals committed to advancing the fields of exercise science and sports medicine.
