MSUM alum’s research is making roads safer
Sheila “Charlie” Klauer, psychology graduate, is a nationally recognized transportation safety researcher and recipient of the MSUM Foundation’s 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Charlie has dedicated her career to understanding and mitigating risks for teen drivers, studying driver behavior, distraction, and real-time feedback systems to help reduce accidents and change the way teens drive.
“I got a broad-spectrum education at MSUM that created a very strong foundation for everything else I’ve done so far,” she says.
