Celebrate National Library Week at the Livingston Lord Library April 6–12
What draws people to the library? Everything! From books and digital resources to research assistance and creative programming, libraries are essential to thriving communities. National Library Week, April 6-12, 2025, is a celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.
At the Livingston Lord Library, we invite the MSUM community to join the celebration! Whether you’re a long-term patron or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. Our library serves as a central hub for learning, creativity, and connection by:
- Providing access to information through the many physical and digital resources and making available resources we don’t have through Interlibrary Loan.
- Supporting literacy and education through our instruction classes, Comstock-Gag Read Aloud Book Awards program, research guides, and access to online databases.
- Hosting community programs that bring people together, such as author talks, book discussions, film screenings, civic engagement opportunities, and cultural events.
We seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome and has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect. Whatever draws you in, the library has something for everyone.
Join us for the celebration days during National Library Week:
- Monday, April 7: Right to Read Day – a day to take action to protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read.
- Tuesday, April 8: National Library Workers Day – a day to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
- Wednesday, April 9: National Library Outreach Day – a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
- Thursday, April 10: Take Action for Libraries Day – a day to rally advocates to support libraries.
Throughout the week, we will be putting together a book display, creating an interactive whiteboard survey, handing out the winning sticker of our Library Sticker Design Contest, offering a public library card sign up event on Wednesday, April 9, from 1 to 3 p.m., and sharing resources and information on our social media accounts.
This National Library Week, we ask that you take time to rediscover the library and see how it draws us together as a community. Whether you’re visiting for books, resources, or a place to study, relax, or connect, the Livingston Lord Library is here for you.
First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.
