Speaking of Service: Her Voice

Speaking of Service: Her Voice

Join us at 1 p.m.  on Thursday, March 27 at the Christianson Alumni Center in the Barry Auditorium, 105. Hear the stories of four women connected to military service as they discuss their struggles and successes. Get ready to be inspired by their resilience and determination!
In honor of Women’s History Month, the Veteran Success Team, the Women’s Center, and the Dragon Student Veterans Club invite you to a panel highlighting the experiences of currently serving and Veteran women in the US Armed Forces from our community, as well as military dependents. This wide-ranging conversation will delve into issues such as transitioning from service to civilian life (particularly on college campuses), reflections on successes and challenges of service, and what motivated them to serve our country.
Women Veterans are a vital part of our campus and local communities. Did you know women Veterans are more educated than their male counterparts? Some 46% of women Veterans have a degree compared to 34% of male Veterans. Women make up 10% of the total Veteran population. Yet among the total population of women in the United States, women Veterans make up 1.5% of the population.
Understanding both their experiences while serving and transitioning into civilian life/academia can make for a more inclusive community and campus.
