Carter Headrick, MSUM Foundation Dragon Impact Awardee, tells stories that influence national public health policy
Carter Headrick ’93 is a 2025 Dragon Impact Award recipient for his success in using compelling stories to shape public health policy nationwide.
A political science graduate, Headrick began as a radio producer and political campaign strategist before shifting to issue advocacy. He helped secure funding for Seattle’s mass transit, banned tobacco billboards in King County, WA, and influenced cigarette tax hikes and smoke-free laws in Texas.
“When we share real stories, we can take on the most powerful companies and win.”
Now with the American Heart Association, Headrick improves access to healthy food and physical activity while addressing food insecurity in Minnesota.
Congratulations, Carter, on being a Dragon of Distinction!
