Veterans Week: Feature Student Story and Letters to Service Members
Veterans Week will also be featuring multiple stories of students, employees, and programs over the course of the week!
Our first Veterans Week Story Feature: A family heritage of service spurred Joaquin Watson to join the U.S. Army. Now he’s the president of the Dragon Student Veterans Club. Joaquin shares about his time in the Army from 2010-2014, including his favorite (and least favorite) MREs. He is set to graduate in December 2025 with a bachelor’s in criminal justice. The Traveling Trunk Program from the Minnesota Military & Veterans Museum brings history to life. Each trunk focuses on a specific war and contains an assortment of items—original or reproduction—that would have been commonly used by soldiers during that time in our nation’s history.

One Book One Community: Veterans’ Masks Display | Livingston Lord Library

One of the themes in this year’s One Book, One Community is Veterans dealing with trauma. To raise awareness for Veterans’ mental health issues, masks made by Veterans from the Fargo VA Health Care System. Each mask visually represents a Veteran’s experiences and comes with personal stories. You can find our display on the 1st floor of the library across the circulation desk.
