Professor Theresa Hest participates in the Communication and Theater Association of Minnesota State Conference
Dr. Hest presented as part of a panel titled, “Pedagogical Changes to Meet Institutional and Student Needs.” The 2024 conference theme was “We all do better when we all do better” (Paul Wellstone). This year we explored ways for those involved in Communication Arts and Literature education as well as Speech, Debate, and Theater activities to embrace (and enact) change when needed. Communication Studies and Media faculty from many of the state community colleges and Universities (including private) were in attendance. Panels that included high school teachers, graduate students, and college faculty presented a variety of information from primary research to applied activities. This conference offers a unique opportunity for high school and college faculty to collaborate on a variety of issues, acknowledge those who have done a good work (MSUM alum have won in the past), host judging clinics, provide new coach/director mentoring, and prep for the upcoming Speech, Debate, and Theater seasons. The Conference is held every year at the end of September in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
