N.D. Poet Laureate, Dr. Denise Lajimodiere, featured presenter at this year’s NSSN training
North Dakota Poet Laureate, Dr. Denise Lajiamodiere will be the featured presenter leading a student panel discussion at this year’s Native Student Support Network (NSSN) training on October 14 as part of Fall Development Day.
Dr. Lajimodiere is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. Dr. Lajimodiere has spent 44 years in education as a teacher, principal, and professor, and is a founding member of the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition. She is the author of Stringing Rosaries, which documents the experiences of Northern Plains boarding school survivors, along with several collections of poetry and children’s books. A traditional Jingle Dress dancer and Ojibwe Birch Bark Biting artist, Dr. Lajimodiere brings deep cultural and educational insights to her work.
