More than 750 MSUM students to graduate May 10

MSU Moorhead will award degrees to more than 750 students during its spring commencement program Friday, May 10, in the university’s Nemzek Fieldhouse. This includes 218 graduate students.

The 10 a.m. ceremony will include undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Business, Analytics & Communications and the College of Science, Health & the Environment. The 10 a.m. student speaker will be Henrietta Doe, a nursing major originally from Monrovia Montserrada, Liberia, and now residing in Crystal, Minn.

The 2 p.m. ceremony will include undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Arts & Humanities and the College of Education & Human Services. The student speaker will be Gricel Escobedo-Kingwell from St. Cloud, Minn., who has earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in educational leadership.

Sarah West

Sarah West will be the commencement speaker at both ceremonies. West is the founder and CFO of Light Consulting, a firm that provides fractional CFO services, executive coaching and strategic planning. Her company aims to simplify both business and life for her clients. Throughout her career, she has consistently climbed to key leadership positions, is a partner in two other businesses, has ownership in four properties, and started a nonprofit called Faith Forward. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and an MBA from North Dakota State University. West is a Certified Management Accountant, Certified Executive Coach and Senior Professional of Human Resources. She has held multiple board position with several nonprofit organizations, dedicating her efforts to leading with compassion and integrity, inspired by the principles of Jesus. She lives in Ulen, Minn., with her husband and three children.
