33rd Annual Woodlands and High Plains Powwow Saturday, May 4

The 33rd annual Woodlands and High Plains Powwow (WHPP) will be held Saturday, May 4, in the Sanford Health Athletic Complex (SHAC) on the NDSU campus. This year’s theme is “May the Four Directions Guide Me.” The WHPP is sponsored by MSUM, Concordia College, Minnesota State Community and Technical College, North Dakota State University, and North Dakota State College of Science.

The powwow will feature many styles of dance and drum songs from area tribes, including the Potato Dance Special, Head Female Dancer Special, Two Spirit/LGBT+ Special, and a 17 & under Traditional Special.

Grand entries are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a community meal will be served during the 5 p.m. break. The doors will open to the public at noon.

Admission for the event is $3 for elders (55+) and youth (ages 6-18); $5 for adults; and free for children under 5 and colleges students with ID.
