Workday Questions and Answers – April 23, 2024

If I am a professor and not a manager, do I need to do anything with Workday?

Workday is not just for managers. Beginning July 1, all MSUM employees will use Workday for things like:

  • Managing personal information or checking benefits
  • Submitting timesheets or viewing paychecks
  • Initiating personal information changes, such as emergency contacts
  • Requesting time off/checking leave balances
  • Reviewing your worker profile
  • Submitting expenses

What do I need to do?

Complete Workday training. On Friday, April 19, you should have received an email from NextGen@mnstate.edu that included your Individualized Workday Training Plan. It followed up President Downs’ Workday email from April 18.

  • All employees will have the Employee-as-Self security role in Workday, allowing you to take actions on behalf of yourself, such as managing your personal information.
  • View your training at the Self Service Portal. Once logged in:
  1. Select Learning Management.
  2. Select My Learning.
  3. Select  Workday All Employees Training Program WD01 through WD05.

Where can I learn more?

There is an abundance of background information at the NextGen website. The Friends of NextGen webpage has nicely organized tiles on myriad topics. Some great places to start that aren’t too overwhelming:
