Affinity Plus and MSUM bring the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics back to Moorhead
Proceeds from the Polar Plunge event to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota
Calling all brave hearts and chilly thrill-seekers! The Polar Plunge, Minnesota’s iconic fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota, is making a splash in Moorhead! This exciting event, proudly presented by Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, a long-time supporter of Special Olympics Minnesota, offers a unique opportunity to raise awareness and vital funds for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
On April 15th, 2024, at 5 PM, courageous individuals will take the plunge at MSUM, diving into a special “Plungster” pool for a refreshing (and slightly icy!) moment. Every splash counts, as proceeds directly benefit Special Olympics Minnesota, empowering athletes to train, compete, and achieve their dreams.
“We are excited to keep the Polar Plunge momentum going in Moorhead,” shared Roz Johnson, Affinity Plus Branch Manager in Moorhead. “This event not only provides a fun and chilly challenge, but also raises critical funds for a cause close to our hearts. We encourage everyone to join us in supporting Special Olympics Minnesota and making a difference in the lives of these incredible athletes.”
An interesting challenge this year will be the fact that there is a competition going on between MSU Moorhead and Bemidji State. BSU’s Polar Plunge will take place the very next day on April 16th. The winner does an amazing thing for Special Olympics Minnesota AND gets some big time bragging rights.
Affinity Plus has been supporting Special Olympics Minnesota since 2008 and in that time, both the Credit Union and its employees have raised more than $700,000 for the charity. This year, Affinity Plus saw an opportunity to leverage its partnership with Minnesota State University Moorhead to bring the Polar Plunge back to the Moorhead community, expanding access to this unique and fun event.
