MSUM student Emily Watson talked about measurement of the Blazhko effect at the Annual Meeting of the AAVSO

Emily Watson, a student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, gave a talk at the 112th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Variable Star Observers, held Nov 2-4 in Boston, MA. Her presentation “Analysis of the Blazhko Effect in the Star EY UMa,” discussed preliminary measurements of the period of long-term changes in the amplitude of pulsation of the variable star EY UMa. She combined measurements taken at MSUM’s Paul P. Feder Observatory in May 2023 with observations taken there over the last decade to narrow the period of the amplitude change to 50 – 80 days.
